Justin Ross VanGuilder, born January 14, 1993, passed away on December 17, 2009, after a long struggle with a rare blood disorder. Justin was a remarkable 16-year-old high school junior. His positive attitude was infectious and an inspiration to his family and friends. He was and still is a hero to all who knew him. Justin is survived by his mother, Robin (Norman) Link; father, Peter VanGuilder; brothers, Ryan VanGuilder and Brian Link; sisters, Kerensa and Alicia Link; grandparents, Sheldon and Joyce Paley, Janice and Michael Erlich and Nancy Link; aunts, Eileen (Brian Geigner) Paley and Julie (Jimmy) Smyth; uncles, Mark (Claire Gajary) Paley, Victor (Amy) Fishman and Raymond (Kathy) Link III and a large extended family and close friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bruce and Catherine VanGuilder and Raymond Link Jr. and uncles, David and Bruce VanGuilder and Richard Link. Funeral services were held on Sunday, December 20, at the Epstein Memorial Chapel, 3232 E. Main St., with Rabbi Sharon Mars officiating. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens - Temple Israel Section. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Nationwide Children's Hospital, Bone Marrow Transplant Unit.
